Empowering Youth at the Career Expo 2025

Opening career pathways and supporting youth employment through electrical trade apprenticeship

We were proud to represent Impact Apprentices & Labour Hire at the Youth Expo 2025, hosted by Youth Projects and Brimbank City Council.

Held at the Visy Cares Hub, the expo brought together employers, educators, training providers, and hundreds of young people seeking vocational training opportunities and practical career advice. For us, it was a powerful reminder of why we do what we do: to provide accessible, supported, and structured electrical apprenticeship support that help young people gain real-world skills and secure long-term employment.

Connecting with the youth

On the day were Ryan McKay (Industry Support Officer), Ian Theobald (OHS Officer), and Natasha Jose (Marketing and Communications Officer) was all hands on deck. chatting with students and job seekers on what it really meant to be an electrical apprentice and what the career pathway would look like. One of the big hits? Our cable stripping and termination demo, sparked conversations and gave a bit of taster to our new Skills and Development Centre in Collingwood.

A rewarding experience

Events like Youth Expo 2025 play a crucial role in supporting young people and creating accessible, job-ready pathways into the workforce. We had the chance to meet so many bright and enthusiastic students who were genuinely eager to learn more about the trades, ask thoughtful questions, and explore alternatives to traditional university routes.

Our Commitment to Youth Employment

At Impact Apprentices & Labour Hire, we specialise in matching the right apprentices with the right host employers and supporting them every step of the way through mentoring and training. We’re passionate about helping the next generation thrive in the workforce and proud to be part of initiatives like this that connect ambition with opportunity.

Ryan McKay, our Industry Support Officer shared his experience below:

Attending my first expo was eye-opening and incredibly rewarding. Connecting with young people keen on becoming electricians reminded me why I’m proud to do what I do. Huge thanks to Youth Projects—can’t wait for the next one!
